Türkiye accuses Israel of undermining Gaza peace efforts amid renewed tensions
Türkiye's Communications Director Burhanettin Duran has accused Israel of weakening diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire and lasting peace in Gaza, following renewed Israeli strikes targeting Palestinian areas.
In statements released on Monday, Duran described the latest attacks as actions that were deliberately damaging ongoing initiatives seeking to end the conflict and called on the international community to adopt a stronger response to protect regional stability.
Ankara criticizes impact of military operations
Duran said that attacks affecting civilians and healthcare facilities were taking place at a time when diplomatic efforts had created renewed expectations for progress toward a political solution.
According to the Turkish official, the continuation of military operations demonstrated what he described as a failure by the Israeli government to prioritize ending the conflict.
He specifically criticized the policies of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government, arguing that they were contributing to a worsening humanitarian and political crisis.
Türkiye calls for stronger international response
The Turkish communications chief urged the international community to take what he called a more effective and principled approach to address developments in Gaza.
He emphasized the need to uphold international law, protect civilian lives and support efforts aimed at achieving a long-term settlement.
Duran reiterated Türkiye's position that Ankara would continue supporting what it described as the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people while backing diplomatic initiatives focused on a sustainable peace agreement.
Regional stability remains a major concern
The statements reflect Türkiye's broader diplomatic engagement on the Gaza conflict and its repeated calls for an immediate resolution to hostilities.
As international actors continue efforts to negotiate ceasefire arrangements, the situation in Gaza remains a central issue affecting wider Middle Eastern security and humanitarian concerns.
