Trump launches a line of watches branded with his name

Former President Donald Trump has ventured into the world of luxury timepieces, promoting a collection of watches branded with his name. This latest business endeavor, amidst his ongoing campaign for the White House, has sparked curiosity and criticism alike.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump enthusiastically endorsed the watches, suggesting they would make an ideal Christmas gift. The collection features a range of prices, with some models reaching a staggering $100,000. Notably, a more affordable option, named "Fight Fight Fight," pays homage to Trump's chant upon departing the stage after an assassination attempt in July, and is priced between $499 and $799.

A disclaimer on the vendor's website, TheBestWatchesonEarth LLC, clarifies that the use of Trump's name, image, and likeness is under a paid license agreement. However, both the Trump Organization and TheBestWatchesonEarth LLC have not yet responded to requests for further details about this agreement.

The website emphasizes that "Trump Watches are not designed, manufactured, distributed or sold by Donald J. Trump or any of his affiliates," and that they "are not political and have nothing to do with any political campaign." Despite this, the FAQ section boldly claims that these are the "official watches offered by President Trump," even featuring a replica of his signature.

Democrats have expressed their disapproval of Trump's business ventures, with Ammar Moussa, a spokesperson for Harris, criticizing the move on X. "Donald Trump is selling $100,000 watches. This is no joke. Trump's self-interest knows no bounds," the post stated.

Interestingly, the watches from Trump, who has often championed American-made products, incorporate Swiss-made materials, as indicated on the product website.

Trump's foray into the watch industry is part of a broader strategy to license his name, image, and likeness. He has previously promoted a sneaker line, NFT trading cards, and even $60 branded Bibles in collaboration with country music artist Lee Greenwood. Additionally, members of the Trump family have launched a crypto platform.
