Earthquake in Colombia: Beyoncé Donates One Million Dollars to Aid Victims

The mobilization in support of the victims of the powerful earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10 continues. American singer Beyoncé has announced a personal donation of one million dollars aimed at supporting families affected by the disaster, particularly those who have lost their homes.

The aid will be dedicated to the distribution of food and essential products, according to information provided by Parkwood Entertainment, the company founded by the artist. This initiative comes as many families continue to face the material and social consequences of the earthquake.

The 7.4 magnitude earthquake resulted in over 330 deaths and caused the collapse of thousands of buildings. Several regions have been severely affected, particularly around Cali and Pereira, where assistance and reconstruction operations are ongoing.

Colombia was also shaken by a new earthquake a few days after Beyoncé's donation announcement. This second tremor did not result in casualties but rekindled concerns among a population still marked by the disaster of August 10.

An International Mobilization for Reconstruction

The Colombian government has estimated the cost of rebuilding the affected areas at approximately 9.57 billion dollars. In light of the scale of the needs, several private and associative initiatives have been launched to support the affected populations.

Beyoncé thus joins Shakira, who had already announced, through her Fundación Pies Descalzos, a contribution of 1.25 million dollars aimed at participating in the reconstruction of schools destroyed or damaged by the earthquake.

Through her commitment, Beyoncé is prioritizing emergency aid aimed at the immediate needs of families. The distribution of food and essential products is intended to support displaced individuals or those deprived of resources following the disaster.

The American artist is also known for her philanthropic actions carried out through her BeyGOOD foundation, which notably mobilized a support fund of 2.5 million dollars for the victims of the California wildfires in 2025.

This new contribution is part of a large wave of solidarity as Colombia embarks on a long reconstruction phase, prioritizing the resettlement of families, the restoration of infrastructure, and the resumption of activities in the most affected territories.
