Ryanair announces fifth base in Rabat with $200 million investment
Ryanair has announced the opening of its fifth base in Morocco, located in Rabat, starting April 2026. The new base will operate two aircraft and represents an investment of $200 million, offering 20 routes in summer 2026, including seven new connections to major European destinations such as Milan Bergamo, Baden-Baden, Frankfurt Hahn, Nuremberg, Porto, Pisa, and Valencia.
The expansion aims to enhance low-cost connectivity across Morocco in preparation for the country’s co-hosting of the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The project is expected to create over 800 local jobs, including 60 high-paying positions for pilots and cabin crew.
Ryanair’s move will increase Rabat’s summer capacity by 45% and forms part of the airline’s record summer 2026 schedule across 13 Moroccan airports, targeting more than 10.7 million passengers traveling to, from, and within the country.
To date, Ryanair’s total investment in Morocco exceeds $1.6 billion, supporting over 8,500 direct and indirect jobs and contributing to economic growth in cities including Rabat, Marrakech, Fes, Agadir, Tetouan, Essaouira, Dakhla, and Nador.
CEO Eddie Wilson emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting Morocco’s economy and international connectivity, highlighting the role of Rabat as a prime summer destination thanks to its rich heritage, vibrant culture, and welcoming atmosphere.
