Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi has made clear that Paris Saint-Germain are determined to return to the UEFA Champions League final, with the reigning champions seeking to build on their emphatic 4-2 victory over Manchester City.

Speaking to CBS Sports Golazo after Wednesday’s encounter on October 14, the PSG right-back expressed confidence in his team’s European ambitions, brushing aside the doubts that continue to surround the Parisian club’s performances on the continental stage.

Hakimi believes PSG have the experience and determination to compete at the highest level again, with the ultimate objective of reaching another final.

Hakimi backs PSG’s European ambitions

The victory over Manchester City provided PSG with a significant boost as they continued their campaign in the Champions League league phase. For Hakimi, however, the result was about more than collecting three points: it reinforced the team’s belief in its ability to compete against Europe’s leading clubs.

The Moroccan defender pointed to the scrutiny PSG regularly face, arguing that external criticism has not weakened the squad’s conviction.

The club, he explained, remains motivated by the opportunity to compete in the Champions League and test itself in high-profile European encounters.

Hakimi also stressed PSG’s determination to demonstrate that they remain a major force in the competition as they seek to defend their continental crown.

Four goals seal statement victory over Manchester City

PSG’s attacking performance proved decisive against Manchester City, with Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé and Vitinha helping the French side establish their advantage before Maghnes Akliouche added another goal.

Manchester City responded through Erling Haaland, who scored twice, but the English side could not prevent PSG from securing a 4-2 victory.

The result offered the Parisian team an opportunity to strengthen its confidence early in the league phase, although the long road to the final leaves little room for complacency.

For Hakimi and his teammates, maintaining consistency against different opponents will be essential if they are to turn a promising performance into another extended European campaign.

A final remains the ultimate objective

Hakimi’s ambitions extend well beyond the result against Manchester City. The Moroccan international wants PSG to build momentum gradually, concentrating on each successive challenge rather than looking too far ahead.

His message reflects the club’s determination to remain competitive throughout the tournament while pursuing another appearance in the final.

For PSG, the challenge will be to sustain the intensity and collective performance displayed against Manchester City as the competition progresses. For Hakimi, the objective is clear: help the Parisian side continue its European journey and create another memorable chapter in the club’s history.
