Royal Air Maroc (RAM) celebrated a key milestone today as its latest Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner touched down at Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport. The arrival of the aircraft, welcomed with a ceremonial water salute, underscores RAM’s commitment to strengthening its global presence.

This addition expands RAM’s long-haul fleet to 10 aircraft, with an 11th Dreamliner anticipated by year’s end. "This delivery marks the first step in implementing Royal Air Maroc’s development plan, following the program agreement signed with the government in July 2023," the airline announced on X.

The expanded fleet is central to RAM’s plans to launch new direct routes to São Paulo, Toronto, and Beijing. This strategic expansion aligns with Morocco's broader aviation vision, enhancing connectivity and supporting the nation’s thriving tourism sector.

Expanding horizons with strategic investments

The newly arrived Dreamliner is part of RAM’s larger order of 10 aircraft, which includes seven Boeing 737 MAX jets for medium-haul routes and three Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners for long-haul operations. These investments aim to boost the airline’s competitiveness in international markets.

In April 2023, RAM launched a tender to acquire additional aircraft, signaling its ambition to grow its fleet to nearly 200 planes by 2030. This move aligns with the Moroccan government’s aviation strategy, focusing on enhancing domestic connectivity, introducing new tourist routes, and cementing Casablanca’s position as a major transit hub.

Preparing for global events

Morocco’s aviation sector is experiencing robust growth, driven by increased tourism and preparations for hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup. These developments are expected to significantly boost international travel, with RAM playing a pivotal role in accommodating the surge in passenger demand.

RAM’s strategic growth reflects the synergy between national priorities and the airline’s vision to expand its footprint on the global stage. With a growing fleet and new routes, RAM is poised to connect Morocco more closely with the world.
