Morocco’s house of representatives unanimously approves three justice-related bills

Morocco’s House of Representatives unanimously approved three draft laws related to the justice sector during a legislative session held on Monday, in the presence of the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament and government spokesperson.

The adopted bills focus on the creation and reorganization of social welfare foundations serving magistrates, judicial staff, and prison administration employees. The texts aim to adapt the legal framework to recent institutional changes within Morocco’s justice system, particularly the strengthening of judicial independence.

One of the bills introduces amendments to the law governing the foundation dedicated to social services for magistrates and justice employees, with the objective of improving governance, administrative efficiency, and financial management. It also seeks to expand social benefits and enhance services provided to members.

Another bill establishes a new foundation for magistrates and judicial staff, granting it legal personality and financial autonomy. This body will be responsible for implementing social programs and initiatives designed to support professionals within the judicial authority.

The third bill concerns the creation of a social foundation for employees of the prison administration and reintegration services, aiming to improve their social and professional conditions. It outlines the foundation’s missions, governance structure, and financial resources.

Lawmakers welcomed these initiatives, noting their contribution to modernizing the justice system and reinforcing social support mechanisms for its key actors.
