Can 2025: Rabat extends business closing hours until 2 A.M.
As the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations approaches, the Moroccan capital Rabat is gradually preparing to host the continental football event, scheduled to take place from December 21 to January 18.
In order to support the expected influx of visitors, supporters and tourists, the Rabat municipal council has announced an exceptional measure allowing businesses to extend their operating hours. Restaurants, cafés and other commercial establishments will be permitted to remain open until 2 a.m.
According to an official notice issued by the city council, the decision aims to stimulate local economic activity and enhance the city’s nighttime atmosphere throughout the tournament period. The extended hours will come into effect on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, and will remain valid until Saturday, January 24, 2026.
Local authorities believe this initiative will help businesses better accommodate visitors and contribute to the overall success of the Africa Cup of Nations, while reinforcing Rabat’s role as a welcoming and vibrant host city.
