Morocco has achieved a remarkable milestone in its tourism sector, welcoming 17.4 million visitors in 2024, exceeding its 2026 target two years ahead of schedule. Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch announced these figures during a parliamentary session focused on tourism policy.

The country experienced a significant 20% increase in tourism compared to 2023, with foreign tourist arrivals growing by 23% and visits from Moroccan expatriates rising by 17%. The total number of visitors in 2024 represented an addition of 3 million tourists compared to the previous year and surpassed 2019's pre-pandemic levels by 35%.

During his address at the Lower House, Akhannouch emphasized the government's comprehensive approach to tourism development, which extended beyond traditional hospitality improvements to integrate the sector with broader economic and social policies.

The success stems from carefully orchestrated measures and sustained government initiatives that have strengthened key tourism indicators. Looking forward, the government plans to continue developing the tourism sector as a fundamental component of sustainable and inclusive growth, aligned with King Mohammed VI's vision for the country.
