Morocco sends additional humanitarian aid to Gaza amid worsening crisis
Morocco has announced the dispatch of an additional humanitarian aid shipment to Gaza, responding to the dire conditions facing Palestinians in the besieged enclave. Under the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who chairs the Al-Quds Committee, the initiative aims to alleviate the suffering caused by Israel’s ongoing blockade and humanitarian restrictions.
Aid details and purpose
Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the air shipment includes approximately 100 tons of essential food supplies and medicine. The aid is specifically targeted at vulnerable groups, including children and infants, who are among the most affected by the starvation and health crises unfolding in Gaza.
The humanitarian assistance is part of Morocco’s continuing commitment to supporting Palestinians, as their plight escalates under the severe conditions imposed by the Israeli blockade. By ordering transport by air, HM King Mohammed VI has ensured that supplies reach recipients quickly and directly, minimizing delays.
Morocco’s ongoing support for Gaza
This latest shipment follows several humanitarian efforts led by Morocco in recent months. In early August, trucks marked with Moroccan flags and the logo of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Solidarity delivered supplies through Gaza’s streets. The previous month, Morocco sent 180 tons of emergency food, medical supplies, and shelter materials to the enclave.
Morocco’s contributions are coordinated through the Al-Quds Committee, which focuses on supporting the Palestinian cause and addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. These efforts reflect the monarch’s unwavering dedication to alleviating the suffering of Palestinians.
Challenges under the blockade
Despite Morocco’s initiatives, the Israeli blockade continues to hinder aid efforts significantly. The blockade, in place since March 18, has prevented food and medical supplies from reaching Gaza, with international human rights groups condemning it as a “weapon of war.”
The latest figures from Gaza’s health ministry reveal that 266 people, including 112 children, have died from starvation and malnutrition. The ongoing restrictions exacerbate the humanitarian catastrophe, making external aid like Morocco’s crucial to mitigating the crisis.
