AFCON 2025: student Fan Zone AMCI inaugurated in Rabat
A new fan zone dedicated to international students was officially inaugurated on Saturday in Rabat as part of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 celebrations. The initiative highlights Morocco’s commitment to youth engagement, cultural exchange, and African solidarity through sport.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, and the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe. Several African ambassadors, representatives of CAF, and officials from the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) were also present.
Located within the International University Campus of Rabat, the AMCI Fan Zone brings together students and graduates from more than 80 nationalities, including 47 African countries. This diversity makes the site one of the most culturally representative spaces in Africa, reflecting the continent’s unity through sport.
Covering an area of 5,000 square meters, the fan zone is expected to welcome up to 50,000 visitors during AFCON 2025. Throughout the tournament, visitors will be able to watch matches live on giant screens, participate in student football tournaments, enjoy gaming and e-sports areas, and attend artistic, cultural, and educational events.
The project places young people at the heart of the continental celebration and aligns with Morocco’s vision of promoting South-South cooperation and empowering African youth through sport, culture, and education.
