Morocco receives first Apache AH-64E helicopters in strategic military upgrade

The first six Apache AH-64E attack helicopters ordered by Morocco arrived at the Tanger Med port this Monday evening, according to the well-informed Far Maroc forum. This marks the beginning of a larger acquisition program under the U.S. government's Foreign Military Sales (FMS) process. In total, Morocco is set to receive 24 Apache AH-64E helicopters, with an option to purchase 12 more.

Earlier this year, exclusive images of these advanced attack helicopters, designed for the Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF), were released, confirming their imminent deployment into the nation's military arsenal.

The AH-64E Apache is one of the most advanced attack helicopters globally. It features an open-systems architecture integrating advanced communication, navigation, detection, and weaponry technologies. The helicopter includes a modernized target designation and tracking system, offering superior night vision capabilities and operational effectiveness in any weather conditions. Its fire control radar has been optimized for maritime environments as well.

The acquisition agreement, signed in 2020 between Morocco and Boeing, is valued at $1.5 billion. This deal also includes Hellfire missiles, rockets, advanced communication and navigation systems, maintenance equipment, and a comprehensive training program for Moroccan pilots and technicians.

With the integration of these highly sophisticated helicopters, Morocco is significantly strengthening its air capabilities and reaffirming its commitment to modernizing its military forces.
