Iran executes man accused of spying for Israel amid post-war crackdown

Iranian authorities have executed a man convicted of spying for Israel, accusing him of sharing classified information that contributed to the killing of a nuclear scientist during the 12-day war launched by Israel in June. The announcement came on Wednesday via Mizan Online, the Iranian judiciary’s official media outlet.

The man, identified as Roozbeh Vadi, was hanged after the Supreme Court confirmed his sentence. He was accused of having worked within one of Iran’s "key and sensitive" organizations, which allegedly gave him access to confidential information. According to the report, Vadi was recruited online by Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency.

Mizan stated that he had passed information about an Iranian nuclear scientist who was later assassinated during Israel’s airstrikes — a series of attacks that led to hundreds of deaths, including military officials and at least ten nuclear scientists, according to Iranian media.

Since the conflict ended, Iranian authorities have pledged swift justice against those suspected of collaborating with Israel. Several arrests have been announced, and other executions of individuals allegedly tied to Mossad have already been carried out.

On the same day, Iran also executed another man accused of planning terrorist operations for the Islamic State group inside the country, according to the same source.

Iran is often criticized by human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, for its high number of executions. It remains the second most active country in terms of capital punishment, after China.
