GITEX Africa 2026 attracts $350 billion in assets in Morocco
GITEX Africa 2026 has drawn investors managing more than $350 billion in assets, reinforcing Morocco’s position as a growing digital investment hub in the region. The event brought together global stakeholders in technology and finance at a time of expanding competition over digital infrastructure and innovation ecosystems across Africa.
The minister delegate for digital transition and administrative reform said the fourth edition of the exhibition confirmed Morocco’s rising role in the continent’s tech landscape. She said the event took place in a complex international context marked by instability linked to the war in the Middle East, yet still achieved strong participation levels and investment interest.
The exhibition recorded more than 55,000 participants, compared with 52,000 in the previous edition. Organizers also reported around 1,500 exhibitors from 58 countries and 412 investors representing more than 35 countries, collectively managing assets exceeding $350 billion. More than 4,600 business meetings were organized during the event, reflecting intensified engagement between startups and investors.
A national startup support program enabled 300 Moroccan startups to participate, while 165 were selected for direct meetings with investors. Officials said 64% of participating startups entered advanced negotiations after the event, signaling increased confidence in Morocco’s innovation sector and its ability to attract international capital.
The event placed strong emphasis on artificial intelligence and its applications in sectors such as fintech, cybersecurity, smart mobility, digital education, and smart cities. Authorities also announced plans to expand the GITEX ecosystem with a dedicated healthcare innovation edition scheduled in Casablanca from May 4 to 6, aiming to deepen Africa’s digital health transformation.
