Félix Lebrun reaches second Grand Smash final after dominant win in Malmö
Félix Lebrun delivered one of the most commanding performances of his European Smash campaign on Sunday, sweeping aside Slovenia’s Darko Jorgic to book his place in the final of the WTT Europe Smash in Malmö.
The Frenchman, ranked fifth in the world, needed just four games and around 20 minutes to overcome the world No. 15, winning 11-5, 11-5, 11-8, 11-5. The emphatic victory sends Lebrun into the second Grand Smash final of his career and leaves him within one match of a landmark title.
Lebrun leaves Jorgic with no opening
From the opening exchanges, Lebrun imposed a relentless rhythm on the semifinal. His consistency and speed repeatedly prevented Jorgic from settling into his game, allowing the Frenchman to build decisive leads in each of the first two games.
The third game offered the Slovenian a brief opportunity to resist, but Lebrun maintained control before closing out the match with another convincing 11-5 game.
The scoreline reflected the authority of the performance: Jorgic never managed to take a game, while Lebrun maintained his concentration throughout the short contest.
A second Grand Smash final within reach
The victory gives Lebrun another opportunity to claim a major title on the WTT circuit.
The French player has already established himself among the leading figures in international table tennis, and another Grand Smash final represents a significant step in his pursuit of the biggest trophies.
His performance in Malmö also reinforces his ability to handle high-pressure matches against established opponents. Jorgic, a highly experienced European player, was unable to disrupt Lebrun's game plan.
Harimoto awaits in the final
Lebrun's final opponent will be Japan's Tomokazu Harimoto, ranked fourth in the world.
The meeting promises a considerably tougher test. Harimoto has previously beaten Lebrun at the 2026 WTT Champions in Doha, making Sunday's final another chapter in an increasingly important rivalry.
The Frenchman acknowledged the challenge immediately after his semifinal victory, expressing satisfaction at reaching the final while warning that Harimoto appears to be in strong form.
The decisive match is scheduled for Sunday evening at 7 p.m. in Malmö. For Lebrun, the objective is now clear: turn a superb semifinal display into his first Grand Smash singles crown.
