Deepseek, China’s AI star, launches a new model
Chinese technology company DeepSeek has announced the launch of a new artificial intelligence model, reinforcing its ambitions in the rapidly evolving global AI sector.
The firm, which gained international attention in early 2025 after unveiling a highly competitive chatbot system, said its latest model aims to combine strong performance with lower operational costs. The previous version had already attracted interest for delivering results comparable to leading systems developed by major US companies such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.
According to the company, the new release is part of its next-generation AI series and has been made available in open-source format, allowing developers and researchers to access and build upon the technology. This move reflects a broader trend in the AI industry toward transparency and collaboration.
The new system is offered in two versions, designed for different use cases. One focuses on enhanced performance for complex tasks, while the other prioritizes efficiency and reduced computing costs. The company stated that improvements over previous versions include stronger reasoning capabilities and more advanced conversational functions.
The launch comes at a time of intense global competition in artificial intelligence, with companies across the United States, Europe, and Asia investing heavily in next-generation models. Analysts see DeepSeek as part of a growing wave of Chinese firms seeking to challenge established Western leaders in the AI space.
