Chinese auto parts maker eyes strategic expansion with new Morocco facility
Shanghai Carthane, a prominent Chinese automotive components manufacturer, has announced plans to establish a new subsidiary in Morocco under the temporary name Kaizhong Morocco. The company disclosed this strategic move on the Shanghai Stock Exchange as part of its efforts to strengthen its foothold in European and African markets.
The initial investment of 40 million yuan (approximately 56 million dirhams) will fund the establishment of the new entity, land acquisition, and development of essential industrial infrastructure for production operations.
By choosing Morocco as its newest manufacturing base, Shanghai Carthane aims to optimize production timelines and reduce logistics costs by positioning itself closer to key clients. Morocco's appeal stems from its flourishing automotive industry, skilled workforce, and business-friendly environment, complemented by attractive tax incentives and modern infrastructure.
With over two decades of experience, Shanghai Carthane (listed under 603037.SH) has established itself as a leading Chinese automotive components manufacturer. The company specializes in designing and producing suspension systems, pedal assemblies, and high-performance polyurethane wheels. While its headquarters and R&D center remain in Shanghai, the company maintains production facilities throughout China and international offices in Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Mexico.
The company's client portfolio includes more than fifty major automotive manufacturers, including Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, General Motors, Mazda, and SAIC-GM.
