African Union Executive Council launches 46th ordinary session in Addis Ababa
The 46th ordinary session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council commenced Wednesday in Addis Ababa, with Morocco actively participating in the proceedings. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, heads the Moroccan delegation at this crucial meeting, which serves as a precursor to the upcoming ordinary summit of heads of state scheduled for February 15-16.
The Executive Council session carries significant importance as it will oversee several key decisions, including the election of five new members to the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC). Additionally, the council will appoint six AU commissioners and review the annual report detailing the activities of the Union and its various organs.
Among its primary responsibilities, the council will also examine draft agendas and decisions slated for discussion at the upcoming 38th AU summit. This preparatory work ensures a structured and efficient approach to the high-level meetings ahead.
