World Bank Strengthens $8 Billion Development Partnership with Morocco

The World Bank has reinforced its commitment to Morocco's development agenda, highlighting a robust partnership that encompasses 27 active projects valued at $8 billion. This announcement comes one year after the landmark 2023 Annual Meetings held in Marrakech.

The institution's renewed dedication focuses on addressing critical challenges facing the North African nation, particularly water scarcity, while supporting the country's ambitious New Development Model. This comprehensive program aims to transform multiple sectors, including social protection, healthcare, education, and women's empowerment.

"Our partnership with Morocco has deepened, strengthening the country's development goals and solidifying its role as a regional hub for connectivity and growth," the World Bank stated in its recent assessment of the collaboration.

The partnership, spanning over 65 years, prioritizes three key areas:
- Job creation through private sector innovation
- Human capital enhancement
- Promotion of inclusive and resilient development

Among the flagship initiatives supported by this partnership is the Noor project, recognized as Africa's largest solar power installation. This project exemplifies Morocco's commitment to sustainable energy development and regional leadership in renewable resources.

The World Bank emphasized that the foundation of this enduring partnership rests on mutual trust, transparent dialogue, and shared objectives. These elements will continue to guide future collaborations aimed at enhancing living standards for Morocco's population.
