Imagicaaworld plans $104 million expansion as India’s experience economy accelerates
Indian entertainment park operator Imagicaaworld Entertainment is planning a major expansion programme worth up to 10 billion rupees ($103.6 million) over the next five to six years, as the company seeks to capitalize on growing demand for leisure and experience-based activities across the country.
The investment strategy will focus on expanding Imagicaaworld’s presence in major Indian cities, according to a senior company executive. The move reflects a broader shift in consumer preferences, with more people increasingly spending on memorable experiences rather than traditional physical goods.
The expansion would strengthen Imagicaaworld’s position in India's competitive amusement and leisure sector, where it faces competition from established players such as Wonderla Holidays. The company aims to capture rising demand from urban populations seeking entertainment options, family activities and destination-based experiences.
The planned investment comes amid rapid growth in India's leisure economy. According to property consultancy CBRE, spending on experiences is expected to grow faster than spending on physical products through 2030, driven by changing lifestyles, higher disposable incomes and increased interest in travel and recreation.
Imagicaaworld has been developing its business around theme parks, entertainment attractions and hospitality offerings, positioning itself as part of India's expanding tourism and leisure ecosystem. The company believes that increasing demand from younger consumers and growing urbanization will create new opportunities for experience-focused businesses.
India's entertainment industry has seen significant transformation in recent years, with consumers increasingly seeking activities beyond traditional retail and dining. Theme parks, immersive attractions and recreational destinations are benefiting from this trend as families and younger generations prioritize shared experiences.
The planned expansion is expected to help Imagicaaworld reach new markets and increase its footprint beyond its existing locations. The company has not disclosed the specific cities targeted for future projects.
As India's economy continues to develop, businesses in the experience sector are betting that changing consumer behavior will support long-term growth. Imagicaaworld's investment plan reflects a wider industry movement toward experience-driven consumption and entertainment-led tourism.
