Lidl egg recall in France after salmonella contamination warning

Several batches of eggs sold in Lidl supermarkets across France have been recalled after authorities identified possible contamination with Salmonella Enteritidis, a bacteria responsible for salmonellosis, according to information published on the official Rappel Conso platform.

The affected products include packs of 20 and 30 eggs sold until 17 July in Lidl stores nationwide. All batches carrying the following health identification marks are concerned: A: PL30225901 / B: PL30105903 / C: PL30055912.

Consumers who have purchased these products are advised not to eat them and are encouraged either to dispose of them or return them to their place of purchase for a refund.

Health authorities warned that salmonella contamination can cause foodborne infections with symptoms that generally appear between six and 72 hours after consumption. These symptoms may include sudden gastrointestinal problems such as diarrhea and vomiting, often accompanied by fever and headaches.

The recall is part of France's food safety monitoring system, which regularly identifies and removes products considered potentially dangerous for consumers. Retailers and manufacturers are required to take corrective action when contamination risks are detected.

Lidl customers who need further information have been provided with a dedicated contact number: 0080054355435.

Food safety authorities recommend that people who have consumed the recalled eggs and experience symptoms seek medical advice, particularly vulnerable individuals such as young children, elderly people or those with weakened immune systems.

The recall highlights the importance of traceability procedures in the food supply chain, allowing potentially contaminated products to be quickly identified and removed from stores.
