Youth under 35 represent majority of Saudi population, GASTAT reports
Young people under 35 now make up the majority of Saudi Arabia’s population, underscoring their crucial role in the nation’s development and future success, according to the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
Data released on International Youth Day, August 12, shows that 69.4% of Saudi citizens are under 35, with those aged 15 to 34 accounting for 35.9% of the total population. The gender distribution is nearly equal, with 50.3% male and 49.7% female. When including both Saudi and non-Saudi residents, the under-35 population represents 61.4% of the Kingdom’s total population.
GASTAT emphasized the significance of youth as a driving force for national progress. “These figures highlight that Saudi Arabia has a young and dynamic population, positioning its youth as a key driver of the country’s future prosperity and national development,” the report stated.
The authority also noted the importance of accurate data in guiding effective policies. Reliable statistics help decision-makers design development plans, support innovation and entrepreneurship, and measure the performance of government programs.
As Saudi Arabia advances its Vision 2030 reforms, young citizens are expected to play an increasingly central role in innovation, workforce development, and creating a diversified, sustainable economy.
