Neonatal nurse in France faces judge over alleged sexual assaults on infants
A 26-year-old nurse from André-Grégoire Intercommunal Hospital in Montreuil, located in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis, is facing a judge as part of a judicial investigation into allegations of sexual assaults on infants. The case emerged after disturbing videos circulated on TikTok, prompting outrage and a criminal inquiry.
The nurse, who worked exclusively in the neonatal intensive care unit, voluntarily turned herself in to police in Clichy-sous-Bois. According to the Bobigny public prosecutor, she confessed to committing acts captured on video and implicated a 28-year-old man with whom she was in a relationship. He is accused of instigating the abuse. The nurse claimed she was under his influence.
The investigation was triggered by TikTok videos in which an individual alleged that two hospital staff members had mistreated Black infants in a sexual manner. The viral videos, one of which was viewed over 1.4 million times, caused panic among parents. Authorities confirmed that the abuse did not appear to have a racial motive, as both a Black and a White infant were identified as victims.
The Grand Paris Nord-Est Hospital Group issued a statement describing the acts as a "serious personal misconduct" if confirmed, while firmly condemning them. They clarified that the incidents did not involve the maternity unit and that the nurse had been suspended pending further investigation.
So far, two infant victims have been confirmed. The hospital has received numerous calls from concerned parents who had previously delivered their babies at the facility. Judicial proceedings and forensic examinations are ongoing.
