Morocco and Germany sign €450 million financing agreements in Rabat

Morocco and Germany have strengthened their bilateral cooperation with the signing of three financing agreements worth a total of €450 million in Rabat. The agreements were concluded between Morocco’s Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget and the Regional Director for North Africa of the German Development Bank (KfW).

The funding will support three strategic programs covering climate action, social protection, and mobility and logistics in the Casablanca-Settat region. A first allocation is dedicated to climate-related policies, aiming to enhance Morocco’s resilience to climate change and accelerate the transition toward a low-carbon economy.

A second program focuses on social protection, with resources intended to consolidate reforms in direct social assistance and employment promotion, particularly for vulnerable groups and young people outside education or training. The third agreement targets the modernization of rail transport infrastructure in the Casablanca-Settat region, including station upgrades and improved railway services.

Moroccan officials highlighted the strength of the long-standing partnership between the two countries, noting that these agreements contribute to broader national ambitions in sustainable development and territorial planning. German representatives reaffirmed their commitment to supporting inclusive growth, sustainable mobility, and regional development in Morocco through continued financial cooperation.
