Ifrane summer camp scandal: Two supervisors arrested over suspected child abuse

A serious incident has shaken the summer camp “Ras El Ma” in Ifrane, where two supervisors were arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy. The arrests took place during the fourth phase of Morocco’s National Camping Program, raising public concern over child safety in such educational spaces.

According to local sources, the Royal Gendarmerie detained the two supervisors on Tuesday following instructions from the public prosecutor. The main suspect, a 28-year-old supervisor from a Casablanca-based association, is accused of inappropriate behavior toward the child, allegedly touching him and kissing his neck while pretending the boy was asleep. The actions reportedly began on the second day of the camp.

The head of the camp’s “Saïss” section, along with other staff members, witnessed the suspect’s behavior around 3 a.m. and immediately alerted the camp director. The child was later interviewed, and his testimony was officially recorded.

Authorities arrived at the site early in the morning to arrest the alleged perpetrator and another supervisor accused of covering up the incident. The child is now receiving psychological support, while the investigation continues under the supervision of the judiciary.
