Morocco and Saudi Arabia sign renewable energy cooperation pact
Morocco and Saudi Arabia have formalized an executive program to deepen their partnership in renewable energies and energy efficiency. This agreement builds on recent discussions held in Riyadh during the International Mining Conference from January 13 to 15, 2026. The initiative targets the advancement of renewable energy projects, upgrades to electrical grids, and greater incorporation of clean sources into both nations' energy mixes.
Key elements include technical studies, skills development, knowledge transfer, and joint ventures to expedite renewable deployments across the two kingdoms. National companies from both countries will collaborate on power generation, energy storage, grid integration, transmission lines, and infrastructure enhancements. This cooperation extends to third markets, fostering mutual investments and sustainability efforts.
The pact underscores expanding bilateral ties under a 2022 energy memorandum of understanding, positioning the partnership as a driver for regional energy transitions. For investors and energy professionals tracking Middle East-North Africa trends, it signals opportunities in green infrastructure and technology exchange amid global demands for cleaner energy.
