Moroccan tomato exports to Norway surge by 37 percent

Morocco’s tomato exports to Norway have recorded impressive growth, reaching around 5,000 tons between July 2024 and March 2025. This marks a 37.9 percent increase compared to the previous season, according to data from trade authorities.

Thanks to this surge, Morocco has become the third-largest supplier of tomatoes to Norway, trailing only Spain and the Netherlands. The total value of these exports is estimated between three and four million US dollars, reflecting Morocco’s expanding presence in the European agricultural market.

This strong performance highlights Morocco’s ability to meet the quality and supply standards demanded by Scandinavian markets. Favorable climate conditions combined with advanced farming practices have allowed Moroccan producers to deliver tomatoes known for their flavor, durability, and adherence to international standards.

Beyond tomatoes, Morocco is also diversifying its agricultural exports to Norway. Clementines, blueberries, and frozen berries are now part of the offering, especially popular during the winter months when demand rises. This diversification illustrates Morocco’s proactive approach to adapting to Nordic consumer preferences.

January 2025 witnessed a historic milestone, with 1,150 tons of tomatoes shipped in a single month, demonstrating the ongoing momentum of Moroccan agricultural trade. Building on this success, Morocco now aims to surpass the Netherlands and become Norway’s second-largest tomato supplier.

The kingdom’s remarkable advance in this vital sector points to a bright future for its broader agricultural exports, strengthening its economic ties with Northern Europe and bolstering its position in Mediterranean trade.
