Infantino hails Africa’s football rise at CAF Awards 2025 in Rabat
FIFA President Gianni Infantino praised the remarkable progress of African football during the CAF Awards 2025 held in Rabat, describing the continent’s game as equal to the world’s best.
Speaking at the ceremony, Infantino highlighted the achievements of Africa’s top players and clubs, saying that the level of performance across the continent now rivals that of leading football nations. He emphasized that infrastructure development and greater investment in sports facilities have propelled African football into a new era of growth and competitiveness.
Infantino noted the significant strides made by several countries, with Morocco standing out for its sustained investment in youth and professional football. The FIFA head applauded the North African nation for its role as host and for producing world-class talent, calling Morocco “the land of champions” following its impressive under-20 success.
During the ceremony, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) recognized Morocco’s standout performers across multiple categories. The Moroccan under-20 national team was honored as Best African Team. Achraf Hakimi earned the Best Player award, Yassine Bounou was named Best Goalkeeper, Ghizlane Chebbak received Best Women’s Player, Othman Maamma took home Best Young Player, and Doha Madani was awarded Best Young Women’s Player.
Infantino’s remarks underscored growing optimism about Africa’s football future, strengthened by improved infrastructure, talent development, and increased international recognition.
