Google reveals top search trends among Moroccans in 2025

As the year draws to a close, Google has unveiled its 2025 search trends, highlighting what captured the attention of internet users across Morocco. The results indicate a mix of sporting passion and rising interest in artificial intelligence, reflecting broader digital shifts within the country.

According to Google’s latest MENA-focused report released on Thursday, December 4, football dominated online searches in Morocco. The FIFA Club World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) were the most frequently searched sporting events, confirming once again the central place of football in Moroccan online culture.

Another notable finding is the significant surge in interest for AI tools. Platforms such as BlackBox AI, Claude, and Manus have attracted widespread curiosity, pointing to the rapid adoption of generative AI technologies among Moroccan users.

In neighboring Algeria, football also remained a top attraction. Searches were largely driven by national team fixtures, including World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Uganda and CHAN matches versus Niger. Algerian users also showed strong enthusiasm for dramatic series, particularly Layla and Netflix’s global hit Squid Game.

Across the region, Google observed a sweeping expansion of digital culture tied to artificial intelligence, alongside sustained popularity of football, cricket, education platforms, and locally produced dramas.

Leading the wave of technological engagement, Google Gemini topped regional rankings. Other generative AI tools also drew substantial interest, from Nano Banana—used for image editing—to Veo, a platform capable of generating video from text or visual inputs.
