Ferrari unveils Luce as its first fully electric supercar
Ferrari has introduced its first fully electric vehicle, the Luce, at a dedicated event in Rome, marking a major milestone in the Italian manufacturer’s 78-year history. The launch signals a strategic shift for a brand long defined by high-revving combustion engines and motorsport heritage.
The Luce, meaning “light” in Italian, is a four-seat grand tourer positioned at the very top of the luxury electric segment. Priced above 500,000 euros, it enters the market as one of the most expensive production electric vehicles ever announced. The car delivers more than 1,000 horsepower through a four-motor setup and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in around 2.5 seconds. It features a 122 kWh battery with an estimated range exceeding 530 kilometres under the WLTP cycle and uses an 880-volt architecture capable of DC fast charging up to 350 kW.
The interior design was developed in collaboration with LoveFrom, the creative firm co-founded by former Apple designer Jony Ive. The cabin prioritises physical controls over full-screen interfaces, reflecting Ferrari’s focus on tactile driving experience rather than digital-heavy layouts. The company opened pre-orders in March, following a positive reception from customers, with first deliveries expected in October 2026.
Ferrari’s approach to electrification has evolved more cautiously than earlier targets suggested. The company has reduced its 2030 goal for fully electric models to 20 percent of its lineup, down from a previously announced 40 percent. The remainder of its range will be split evenly between hybrid and internal combustion engines, reflecting what the company describes as demand-driven strategy adjustments.
The Luce is expected to account for around 5 percent of Ferrari sales in its first year, placing it alongside the brand’s limited-run special editions in terms of production volume. Manufacturing will take place at Ferrari’s new e-building facility in Maranello, which also produces hybrid and combustion components. Company leadership has described electrification as a tool rather than a final objective, framing the Luce as a balance between performance engineering and evolving market expectations
