FDA to review possible links between adult deaths and Covid-19 vaccines
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has opened a formal review to determine whether coronavirus vaccines could be connected to reports of adult deaths, federal health officials confirmed on Tuesday. The inquiry expands on an ongoing investigation examining previous allegations that some children may have died after receiving the shots.
Health authorities emphasized that launching such a review does not mean a causal link has been established. Safety monitoring systems routinely flag potential signals, which are then evaluated in detail to determine whether they reflect coincidence, underlying health conditions, or an actual vaccine-related issue.
According to vaccine manufacturers, the FDA is also reassessing the safety profile of immunizations designed to protect against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a disease that can be serious for older adults and infants.
Public health experts underline that coronavirus and RSV vaccines have undergone extensive clinical testing and continue to be monitored closely. Any new findings will be made public once the agency completes its assessment.
