UK doctor charged with multiple sexual assaults against patients

A former British doctor is facing serious criminal charges after prosecutors accused him of sexually assaulting dozens of patients, including at least one child, during his time working in hospitals across central England.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced that Nathaniel Spencer, 38, has been charged with multiple offences linked to alleged abuse that took place between 2017 and 2021. Spencer worked first at Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent before moving to Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley, near Birmingham.

According to the CPS, investigators have identified 38 potential victims. While many of the incidents involve adults, prosecutors confirmed that some charges relate to a child under the age of 13. Authorities did not specify how many minors are believed to be affected.

Spencer faces counts involving sexual assault and other serious offences. He has also been prohibited from practising medicine.

The former doctor is expected to appear before North Staffordshire Justice Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme on January 20. Police in Staffordshire, along with the hospitals concerned, have encouraged any additional patients who may have information or concerns to come forward and contact investigators.
