Alstom invests $10 million in Morocco to boost railway innovation and create 200 jobs
French mobility leader Alstom has committed MAD 100 million ($10 million) to expand its industrial operations in Morocco, establishing the first global production line for multi-platform train driver desks. This strategic move strengthens Morocco's position in the global railway value chain. The investment will also create over 200 direct jobs, enhance local engineering expertise, and double transformer production capacity.
The new facility, part of Alstom's broader development plan in the AMECA region (Africa, Middle East, and Central Asia), will supply driver desks for worldwide projects. This follows Alstom's century-long presence in Morocco and recent contracts, including a €781 million deal to deliver 18 Avelia Horizon high-speed trains for the Tangier-Marrakech route by 2030.
Alstom has invested nearly $20 million in Morocco since 2020, delivering trams, high-speed trains, and locomotives while developing advanced industrial sites. These efforts underline the company’s commitment to fostering Morocco’s railway ecosystem and supporting its growing role in global transportation innovation.
