Morocco's commitment to sustainable energy solutions is evident in the remarkable surge of 5.7% witnessed in the nation's electricity production during the first quarter of 2024, as reported by the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF). This growth contrasts sharply with the 2.6% decline recorded a year prior, marking a significant shift in the country's energy landscape.

The driving force behind this impressive performance can be attributed to the robust contributions from the private sector, which saw an 8% increase in production, coupled with an impressive 42.8% surge in renewable energy output under the auspices of Law 13-09. Despite a 9.9% contraction in production from the National Office of Electricity and Water (ONEE), the overall trajectory remains profoundly encouraging.

Delving deeper into the intricacies of Morocco's energy sector, the report sheds light on the nation's dynamic exchange of electricity with the global market. Imports of electrical energy experienced a 5.4% decrease by the end of March 2024, contrasting sharply with the staggering 211.7% increase witnessed a year earlier. Conversely, the volume of exported electricity soared by an impressive 74.5%, a remarkable turnaround from the 64.2% decline observed in the previous year.
