Moroccan international Naïl El Aynaoui joins RB Leipzig on loan

Moroccan international midfielder Naïl El Aynaoui has joined German club RB Leipzig on loan from Italian side AS Roma for the 2026–2027 season, giving the 25-year-old a new opportunity to continue his development at one of the Bundesliga’s most ambitious clubs.

RB Leipzig confirmed the signing on Tuesday, announcing that the agreement also includes an option to make the transfer permanent. El Aynaoui will wear the number 21 shirt during his time in Germany.

Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer praised the midfielder’s qualities, highlighting his intensity, high work rate and ability to maintain a strong tempo without the ball. He also pointed to El Aynaoui’s capacity to bring energy, creativity and movement to the midfield.

The Moroccan player said Leipzig’s style of football was a particularly good match for his strengths. Known for its high intensity and dynamic approach, the German club’s playing philosophy was one of the main attractions for the midfielder, who expressed his ambition to settle quickly and contribute to the team in domestic competitions and the UEFA Champions League.

Born in France, El Aynaoui began his professional career with AS Nancy before moving to RC Lens in 2023. His performances at Lens earned him a move to Roma in 2025, while his progress at club level also led to his involvement with the Moroccan national team.

El Aynaoui was part of Morocco’s squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, further strengthening his profile on the international stage. His move to the Bundesliga now represents another important step in a career that has developed steadily across several European leagues.

His arrival in Germany also comes on the same day as another Moroccan international, Zakaria El Ouahdi, completed his move to Hamburger SV from Belgian club Genk, where he had spent three seasons.
