Chinese gamer’s two-year hotel stay ends in shocking discovery

Hotel staff in China were stunned after a guest checked out following a continuous two-year stay, leaving behind a room filled with trash, waste, and unbearable filth. The man, reportedly addicted to video games, had rarely left his room during his long-term stay.

Shocking discovery after checkout

When hotel employees entered the room after the guest’s departure, they were greeted by piles of trash that reached nearly a meter high. The waste consisted mainly of used toilet paper, food packaging, and leftover garbage scattered across every corner. The bathroom was in an even worse condition, with heaps of soiled paper stacked higher than the toilet. Furniture, including a table and two gaming chairs, were almost buried under the debris.

Hotel catering to esports players

According to reports shared by The Sun, the hotel specializes in providing accommodation for professional and amateur esports players. Each private room is equipped with high-performance computers, rapid internet access, and gaming chairs tailored for extended sessions. This setting allowed the guest to maintain a secluded lifestyle with minimal contact with staff or other guests.

Obsessive gaming habits revealed

Dexerto, a gaming and entertainment news outlet, reported that hotel staff described the man as a “dedicated gamer” who spent nearly all his time in front of his computer. His prolonged isolation and lack of hygiene turned his living space into a hazardous environment. Reports also indicate that he still owes outstanding payments for his lengthy stay.

Shock and reflection across social media

Images and footage of the trashed room circulated on social media platforms, sparking reactions ranging from disbelief to concern about the effects of gaming addiction. Commenters highlighted how excessive digital immersion can blur the boundaries of normal living, reinforcing calls for more awareness and support around gaming habits and mental health.
