Brazil Supreme Court keeps Banco Master owner Daniel Vorcaro in custody
Brazil’s Supreme Court has ruled to keep Daniel Vorcaro, owner of the now-liquidated Banco Master, in custody. The decision comes after allegations that Vorcaro attempted to bribe a former central bank director in exchange for preferential treatment.
Vorcaro was detained earlier this month following a judicial investigation citing "strong indications" of bribery. The case has sparked protests outside Banco Master in Sao Paulo, with demonstrators demanding accountability and transparency from both the businessman and authorities.
The decision reflects Brazil’s ongoing efforts to tackle financial misconduct and maintain confidence in the country’s banking system. Vorcaro’s detention will remain in effect as authorities continue their investigation into the alleged scandal.
