Wydad Casablanca Maintains Confidence In Paulo Sergio Amid Jamal Sellami Speculation

Thursday 01 - 15:45

Questions surrounding the technical direction of Wydad Casablanca have intensified following the club’s difficult start to the Botola season, with speculation emerging over a possible change on the bench. Among the names mentioned in recent reports is Moroccan coach Jamal Sellami.

Sellami has been presented by several media outlets as a potential option should Wydad decide to part ways with Portuguese coach Paulo Sergio. The two sides have reportedly been in contact in the past, which has contributed to renewed speculation about a possible return to negotiations.

However, information obtained by Le Site info points in a different direction. A source familiar with the situation has denied that Wydad are currently negotiating with Sellami or taking concrete steps to appoint a new coach.

No current talks with Jamal Sellami

According to the same source, reports suggesting that Wydad’s management has already begun searching for a replacement for Paulo Sergio are unfounded at this stage.

The source also stated that Wydad president Ibrahim El Assri has not contacted any coach regarding a potential change in the technical staff. This indicates that, despite the pressure generated by the team’s early results, the club has not yet initiated a formal process to replace its current coach.

Paulo Sergio retains the club’s backing

For now, Wydad’s leadership appears prepared to give Paulo Sergio additional time to address the team’s difficulties and improve its performances in the Botola.

The defeat against Widad Témara has increased attention around the Portuguese coach, but it has not, according to the reported information, prompted the club to make a decision about his future.

The situation therefore remains unchanged: Paulo Sergio continues to lead Wydad Casablanca, while reports linking Jamal Sellami to the position remain unconfirmed. The coming matches are likely to play an important role in shaping the debate surrounding the club’s technical project.
