Cannes: Saudi princess’s secure residence burglarized in €500,000 luxury theft

A Saudi princess has been the victim of a burglary at a secured residence in Cannes, with luxury handbags, jewelry and cash worth an estimated €500,000 stolen during the night, according to police sources cited by Le Figaro.

The break-in took place between Sunday and Monday while the Saudi family was away from the property. Police were alerted shortly before 1 a.m. on Monday by the family’s private secretary, who reported that a theft had occurred at the residence.

A safe reportedly torn out

Initial findings indicate that the burglars managed to remove a safe from the property.

Jewelry and luxury leather goods were among the items taken, while €8,000 in cash was also reportedly stolen. The total value of the missing property has been estimated at around half a million euros.

The residence, located on the Côte d’Azur, was secured, adding to the questions investigators will need to address as they reconstruct how the perpetrators entered the property and removed the safe.

Investigation underway

Police have begun investigating the circumstances of the burglary and are working to establish how the thieves gained access to the residence and how they were able to leave with such a substantial haul.

The victim is expected to formally file a complaint in the coming hours, a procedural step that will allow investigators to advance the case.

The burglary comes in a city accustomed to the presence of wealthy international visitors, particularly during the summer season. Cannes and the wider Côte d’Azur regularly attract high-profile guests carrying valuable personal belongings, making luxury residences a potential target for organized burglars.

For now, investigators are focusing on the evidence gathered at the secured property and on identifying those responsible for the theft.
