Schedule announced for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco

The governing body of African football has officially released the match schedule for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will be hosted in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

The opening match of the prestigious tournament will feature Morocco against Comoros on December 21, 2025, as part of Group A. The match will take place at the newly built Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, a venue with a capacity of 69,500 spectators, making it an ideal setting for the tournament's kickoff.

The quarterfinals will be hosted in Rabat, Tangier, Marrakech, and Agadir, while the semifinals will take place in Rabat and Tangier. The third-place match is set to be played at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca. The grand final will be held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.

In total, 52 matches will be played over 29 days, celebrating African football and showcasing the continent’s remarkable talent and passion for the sport.

The tournament will be hosted in nine stadiums across multiple cities, including Rabat, Casablanca, Agadir, Marrakech, Fès, and Tangier. Notable venues include the Grand Stadium of Tangier, which has the largest capacity at 75,600 seats, and the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca, which can accommodate 45,000 spectators.

The group stage matches will commence on December 21, with key fixtures featuring teams such as Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal, Algeria, Cameroon, and defending champions Côte d'Ivoire. The knockout phase will begin on January 3, culminating in the final on January 18, 2026.

This tournament is expected to be a grand celebration of African football, uniting fans from across the continent for a month of intense competition and excitement.
