Moroccan Coach Hussein Ammouta Takes Helm at UAE’s Al Jazira
In a strategic move aimed at revitalizing its football ambitions, Al Jazira, the prominent Abu Dhabi football club, has appointed Moroccan coach Hussein Ammouta as their new head coach for the upcoming season. This significant announcement was reported by the Emirati news outlet, Al Etihad.
Ammouta’s arrival at Al Jazira follows the mutual termination of his contract with the Jordan Football Association, a development that facilitated his transition to the UAE club. His appointment is seen as a crucial step for Al Jazira, which is navigating a critical transitional phase and seeking to reestablish its dominance on the field.
The Moroccan coach's reputation precedes him, marked by his remarkable achievements with the Jordanian national football team. Under Ammouta's guidance, Jordan reached the final stage of the 2023 Asia Cup in Qatar, a historic first for the nation. His leadership also propelled the team to the third round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, highlighted by a notable victory over Saudi Arabia in Riyadh.
