Ziad Bourji praises the growth of Moroccan music at Mawazine 2025

Lebanese artist Ziad Bourji, attending the 20th edition of the Mawazine Festival Rhythms of the World in Morocco, expressed deep admiration for the impressive rise of contemporary Moroccan music. Speaking before his concert at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat, Bourji highlighted the remarkable evolution Moroccan songs have undergone over the past decade.

He emphasized the poetic richness and rhythmic diversity found within Moroccan music, praising the efforts of Moroccan artists, especially the younger generation, as key cultural ambassadors. Bourji mentioned figures such as Saad Lamjarred and Hatem Ammor as examples of artists successfully spreading Moroccan music beyond the country's borders.

According to Bourji, Morocco’s unique geographic position and artistic heritage create a distinct musical identity that harmoniously blends local authenticity with global influences. This blend, he noted, appeals to both domestic and international audiences alike.

Participating for the first time at this prominent festival in the Arab world, Bourji expressed his honor and enthusiasm. He described the event as a valuable platform for artists and producers to connect in both a professional and celebratory atmosphere.

He also commended the festival’s excellent organization and Morocco’s important role in hosting and promoting large-scale cultural events. Bourji acknowledged the festival’s reputation for enabling artists to engage directly with an enthusiastic and discerning audience.

Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Mawazine Festival takes place from June 20 to 28, 2025. Since its inception in 2001 by the Morocco Cultures Association, it has become a major cultural meeting point, attracting millions and featuring some of the biggest names in Arab and international music, turning Rabat and Salé into hubs of cultural exchange without borders.
