TotalEnergies and Hutchinson have announced a joint initiative to develop a cutting-edge solar energy project in Morocco, featuring advanced photovoltaic technology.

According to Solar Quarter, the collaboration involves the installation of 2,850 high-performance photovoltaic modules, delivering a solar capacity of 1.7 MWp and generating an estimated 2,590 MWh of clean energy annually.

"This initiative supports Hutchinson in minimizing its environmental impact while optimizing energy efficiency," noted the report. The partnership underscores TotalEnergies' broader commitment to fostering greener energy practices across industries.

Morocco’s Renewable Energy Momentum

Morocco has emerged as a global hub for renewable energy investments, leveraging its natural resources and strategic vision for sustainable development. By prioritizing projects like the $20 billion Xlinks Morocco-UK Power Project—a subsea interconnector generating 11.5 GW of zero-carbon electricity—the country is advancing its ambitious target of sourcing 52% of its energy from renewable resources by 2030.

The Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index (RECAI) recently recognized Morocco as a leader in Africa’s green energy transition. The report projects the addition of over 1 GW of renewable capacity annually between 2023 and 2027, bolstering the country’s energy independence and regional leadership in sustainability.

This latest collaboration between TotalEnergies and Hutchinson reflects Morocco's growing appeal as a destination for innovative clean energy projects, further cementing its role in shaping the continent's renewable energy future.
