Nigerian tech firm targets Morocco’s transforming energy sector

Beacon Power Services (BPS), a Nigeria-founded technology company specializing in grid management solutions, has announced its plans to enter Morocco’s evolving energy market. The announcement was made during the Africa Energy Forum, held from June 17–20 in Cape Town, South Africa.

Morocco’s energy market attracts innovation

BPS founder and CEO Bim Adisa shared the company’s vision to collaborate with Moroccan utility providers as the country undergoes significant reforms in its energy sector. Adisa highlighted Morocco’s utility modernization efforts, particularly its focus on renewable energy integration and grid optimization, as key drivers for the company’s interest.

“One of the places we’re excited about and hopeful to work with is Morocco,” Adisa told Morocco World News. He emphasized BPS's commitment to supporting regional utilities in improving their services, customer experiences, and operational efficiency.

Technology to solve grid challenges

BPS specializes in providing data-driven solutions tailored to Africa’s power sector. The company addresses critical challenges like unreliable grid data through comprehensive grid mapping and real-time monitoring systems. By combining artificial intelligence with predictive analytics, BPS enables utilities to anticipate outages and improve service delivery.

“We help utilities map their grids and assets to create an accurate topology,” Adisa explained. “With AI, we provide predictive analytics that can detect and even prevent outages before they occur.”

This proactive approach has allowed BPS to create significant value for utilities and consumers alike, enhancing efficiency and reducing service disruptions.

Proven success across multiple markets

Operating in six African countries — including Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Togo, and Zambia — BPS has demonstrated measurable improvements in utility operations. Its solutions provide real-time visibility into electricity flow, payment systems, and outage tracking, empowering utilities to deliver better services to their customers.

Adisa emphasized the importance of these innovations: “It’s good to see an outage before it happens so people don’t end up in the dark.”

A strategic move into Morocco

BPS’s expansion into Morocco comes at a pivotal moment, as the North African country enhances its energy infrastructure to support growing renewable energy capacities. With its expertise in utility optimization and grid management, BPS is poised to play a significant role in Morocco’s energy transition.

As the Africa Energy Forum continues, the presence of companies like BPS underscores the growing ecosystem of African-led technological solutions addressing the continent’s energy challenges through innovation.
