Morocco ranks 76th in the 2026 Global Prosperity Index

Morocco has been ranked 76th out of 161 countries in the 2026 Global Prosperity Index, according to the latest report published by the Legatum Institute. The annual index evaluates prosperity through more than 130 indicators covering economic performance, governance, social development, infrastructure, education, health, and living standards.

The report highlights Morocco's continued progress in several economic areas, particularly in improving its investment environment and expanding infrastructure. These developments have contributed to a stronger business climate and increased the country's attractiveness to both domestic and international investors.

Morocco also performed relatively well in the category of economic freedom, reflecting ongoing efforts to encourage entrepreneurship, strengthen private sector activity, and implement reforms aimed at supporting long-term economic growth. Investments in transport networks, industrial zones, renewable energy projects, and digital infrastructure have played an important role in enhancing the country's competitiveness.

Despite these positive developments, the report notes that Morocco continues to face challenges in key social sectors. Education, healthcare, and overall living standards remain areas requiring further improvement to ensure that economic growth translates into broader and more inclusive prosperity for the population.

The Global Prosperity Index measures not only economic success but also the quality of institutions, public services, personal freedoms, safety, and opportunities available to citizens.
