Morocco's Quality of Life: A Top Performer in Africa

Morocco has emerged as a standout destination for an exceptional quality of life in Africa, according to the prestigious "Best Countries Rankings 2024" by US News. The North African nation takes the second spot on the continent, just behind Egypt, and ranks an impressive 39th globally.

The recent ranking, compiled by the renowned U.S. News & World Report, highlights Morocco's exceptional performance in providing its citizens with a high standard of living. With a score of 31.9 out of 100, Morocco has secured its position as a top-tier African nation in terms of overall well-being.

To compile this comprehensive ranking, US News conducted an extensive survey over three months, gathering insights from over 17,000 individuals worldwide. The survey revealed that a remarkable ten African countries made it into the prestigious list, with Egypt taking the top spot on the continent and ranking 35th globally. South Africa, at 40th worldwide, completes the African podium.

The American publication sheds light on Morocco's renowned cuisine, admired and emulated globally. Moroccan chefs masterfully incorporate an abundance of spices and local ingredients such as saffron, mint, and olives into their dishes. The iconic couscous takes center stage, often accompanied by skewers, soups, and salads. The national specialty, harira a thick lamb soup served with dates is a staple during Ramadan. Bread is a significant part of every meal, typically enjoyed with mint tea, the country's beloved national beverage.

However, the publication also acknowledges the challenges that persist in Morocco. Despite notable economic progress, the country continues to grapple with high unemployment rates, poverty, and illiteracy. Human rights groups have expressed concerns about ongoing restrictions on freedom of expression.

The "Best Countries Rankings 2024" covers 89 countries worldwide and provides a comprehensive assessment based on various criteria. In addition to essential factors like access to food, housing, quality education, healthcare, and employment, the ranking also considers aspects such as security, political stability, and individual liberties.

This recognition for Morocco's quality of life is a testament to the country's commitment to its citizens' well-being and its efforts to create a thriving and inclusive society. As Morocco continues to make strides in various sectors, it solidifies its position as a leading African nation, offering its residents and visitors a unique and enriching experience.
