Türkiye reaffirms support for Sudan’s unity and humanitarian relief
Türkiye has reaffirmed its strong support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to end the ongoing conflict.
Speaking in Washington, D.C., Türkiye’s Ambassador to the United States, Sedat Onal, highlighted Ankara’s backing of regional and international efforts to stabilize Sudan. He stressed that Türkiye’s focus remains on alleviating civilian suffering and providing urgent humanitarian assistance.
Since the outbreak of conflict in April 2023 between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), tens of thousands of people have died, and millions have been displaced. Türkiye has been among the first countries to respond, sending tents, food, hygiene supplies, and other aid in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Turkish NGOs.
The ambassador noted that Türkiye will continue providing in-kind humanitarian contributions in the coming weeks, especially as global efforts seek a truce ahead of Ramadan. The event in Washington, attended by senior US officials, UN representatives, and diplomats from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, the UK, and France, underscored Türkiye’s commitment to a peaceful resolution and support for Sudanese authorities in addressing humanitarian needs.
