Morocco plans major overhaul of driving license process
Morocco is preparing significant changes to its driving license system as the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) works on a new legal framework to streamline the process for candidates.
The main reform under discussion involves separating the theoretical driving exam from practical driving lessons. Under the proposed system, candidates would be required to pass the theory test on traffic rules before beginning practical driving sessions at a driving school.
After completing practical training, candidates would then schedule a separate appointment to take the final practical exam.
The project is set to be presented next Wednesday to industry professionals in a meeting bringing together NARSA Director Benacer Boulaajoul and the Moroccan Federation of Driving Instructors. Discussions will also cover the launch of a new digital platform for driving schools.
The online portal will allow candidates to schedule appointments and request authorizations remotely, eliminating the need for physical visits to registration centers.
Several technical details are still under review, including the validity period of the theory exam and the number of attempts allowed for the practical test.
