Morocco Launches AfriDou@ne Platform to Enhance African Customs Collaboration
Morocco's Administration of Customs and Indirect Taxes (ADII) has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming customs operations across Africa. The newly launched "AfriDou@ne" program, a cornerstone of ADII's 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, represents a significant step toward strengthening international customs cooperation throughout the continent.
The program's primary focus is facilitating the exchange of expertise and best practices among African nations, with particular emphasis on modernizing customs services, simplifying procedures, and advancing digital operations. Through this initiative, Morocco is extending its technical knowledge to partner nations, helping to align regional customs practices with international standards.
This strategic move aligns seamlessly with Morocco's broader South-South cooperation policy, which seeks to cultivate stronger relationships with African nations while expanding its collaborative network across the continent. The timing of AfriDou@ne's launch is particularly significant, as it coincides with the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), a crucial milestone in Africa's economic integration journey.
The initiative positions customs administrations as key enablers of the AfCFTA's success, recognizing their vital role in facilitating intra-African trade. By streamlining customs procedures and fostering greater cooperation, the program aims to contribute significantly to sustainable economic growth across the continent.
Through AfriDou@ne, Morocco is establishing itself as an influential partner in Africa's economic integration efforts, actively supporting the development of intra-continental trade while contributing to the region's long-term economic prosperity. The platform represents a concrete step toward creating a more unified and efficient customs ecosystem across Africa, ultimately benefiting all participating nations through enhanced trade facilitation and economic cooperation.
