Morocco hosts African playoffs for 2026 World Cup dream
African football is gearing up for a thrilling new chapter as Morocco hosts the continental playoffs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
From November 13 to 16, four nations—Nigeria, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Gabon—will compete at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex and the Stade El Barid. The tournament will determine the last African team to advance to the intercontinental playoff, the final step before the World Cup in the United States.
The winner of the Rabat mini-tournament will represent Africa in March during the intercontinental playoff, facing a team from Asia, South America, North America, or Oceania for the continent’s tenth and final ticket to the global stage.
After a competitive qualification campaign, the four best runners-up from Africa’s nine groups earned the right to participate in this “last chance” knockout tournament, featuring semifinals and a final to decide the continental contender.
